At the age of 17, Thomas Ehrengut completed his training as a stamp and retail salesman in one of the world's oldest and most renowned stamp trading houses.

In 1979, he and his brother Hubert founded the mail-order company Thomas Ehrengut KG, headquartered in Altona. In a short time, the passionate philatelist and entrepreneur acquired a leading position beyond Hamburg's borders.

Trading in rare stamps and coins was a domain of the young company from the very beginning. Many renowned collectors from all over the world have placed their trust in the recognized philatelist over the past four decades. His customer list of international collectors from Norway to South Africa reads like the "Who's Who" of philately.

Since the foundation of HBA in 1983, Thomas Ehrengut has been in charge of the field service.
He is the very experienced contact person for all questions concerning HBA's auction business. He advises our sellers trustfully and competently in all consignment matters, from the acquisition of a collection to the payment of the auction proceeds. Qualified appraisals and valuations of estates, collections as well as the preparation of appraisals also fall under his responsibility.

Thomas Ehrengut is very interested in promoting young philatelic talents.
He regularly promotes and supports numerous stamp clubs in northern and southern Germany with his in-depth knowledge and illustrative material.
